Point of View
Over the last few days we have studied the concept of point of view. The students should have a firm understanding of first, second and third person point of view, and how to identify it in a story. One of the ways in which the concept was reinforced was through a short video from Flocabulary. Enjoy!

TLN - Three Letter News
We have been hard at work to create our class newscast. It will encompass many different stories written, edited, reported, recorded and produced by students in our class. It will be posted here shortly.
Welcome to KidBlog
Going forward we will be using kidblog.org as a classroom and homework tool. This is a safe blogging environment developed by teachers for use in schools. Here is what these teachers have to say:
Kidblog is built by teachers, for teachers, so students can get the most out of the writing process. Our mission is to empower teachers to embrace the benefits of the coming digital revolution in education. As students become creators - not just consumers - of information, we recognize the crucial role of teachers as discussion moderators and content curators in the classroom.
We will utilize KidBlog as a tool for students to create their own original content. To start we will use the site as a means by which students will be able to respond to their nightly reading. The weekly prompt or question will be posted over the weekend, and students will have until the following Friday to respond.
KidBlog requires individual student accounts and log-in information. These measures help to keep the site secure. I look forward to reading all of the amazing things that the students in room D2 have to say.

Welcome to edmodo!
We now have an edmodo page for room D2!

Scholastic Book Club
Great news, our Scholastic Book Club is kicking off tomorrow! In this week's Friday Folder, your student will bring home an introductory letter and the monthly Scholastic Book Club flyer. The letter welcomes you to the school year and explains how to place book orders online this year. Look through the flyer and the Scholastic's website and pick a few Just Right Books for your student. Enjoy!
