There is quite a bit about which I can tell you, but I will keep it short. I grew up in the oldest town in Connectiuct, Windsor. It was settled in 1633, that means it is nearly 400 years old! While I lived in Windsor, I attended Oliver Ellsworth Elementary School, Sage Park Middle School, and Windsor High School. My fourth grade teacher was Mrs. Pincott; she is the reason I am a teacher today! After graduating from Windsor High School, I went on to obtain my Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from The University of Connecticut and my Master's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Bridgeport. I hope all of you have the chance to go to college some day.
Last year I had the privilege of teaching fourth grade at Pomperaug Elementary School, and the year before that, I taugh third grade here at Gainfield Elementary School. Prior to that, I worked at a school in Naugatuck, CT for two years, while I completed my Master's degree. Before that, however, I worked for a small non-profit agency in Willimantic, CT teaching students with special needs.
When we are not teaching, my wife (Mrs. Perreault, she's a teacher at Middlebury Elementary Schooll) and I spend our time doing lots of fun things. We love spending time with our families, being outdoors, running, hiking, swimming, kayaking, and cooking. I am also privileged to coach the Pomperaug High School boys lacrosse team. While I love all sports, lacrosse is my favorite. Did you know that it was invented by Native Americans?
The thing I love most, however, is our daughter, Clare. She was born on June 3, 2013 and has been nothing short of amazing since that day. Her favorite things are being outside, her stuffed cow named Moo, playing with her cousins, going running with Mom and Dad and talking ... all the time! Maybe she will make a guest appearance in the classroom this year.
I do not have much free time, but when I do you will find me with my nose in a book. I absolutely love to read! My favorite book is called East of Eden. It is by a man named John Steinbeck, he is an excellent author, and I hope you all read his books some day. I am also a big fan of many of the same books you will all be reading this year. Some of my favorites are: The Boy Who Saved Baseball, the Harry Potter series, The Wildwood Chronicles, Al Capone Does my Shirts, A Wrinkle in Time, My Side of the Mountain, the Alex Rider series, and many more. Please share your favorite books with me, and I will be sure to do the same.
